Louis Weimer - Everyday Hero Have you ever taken the time to just sit and watch people? Everyone has a way of being; they’re headed in a particular direction for a purpose. Some people move about pleasantly, carefree, and unconcerned. Others look upset, as if they are wondering if they are headed in the right direction. Some people follow behind others, going with the flow of traffic. Then there are those who have a clear path, intense, know where they’re going, and are pushing full steam ahead. What direction are you going? What is your purpose? Louis Weimer, a native of Atlantic Beach, Fl, knows he is headed in the right direction. How does he know that? He followed the lead of someone who was doing something different, and decided to become a leader himself. This takes bravery, and that’s why Louis is this months, “Everyday Hero”. Louis has been involved in the Salon Industry for over 20 years, is a talented colorist, and on the Artistic Technical Team for L’Oreal. When he became a salon manager, however, he felt more like a babysitter than a leader! According to Louis, people did not listen, wouldn’t follow directions and had a careless attitude about the training he was providing. Life was not easy trying to get others motivated to do more. Fortunately, Louis has a great friend in his life, Dawn, whom he has known since he was very young. He noticed how rapidly she was moving up in her career, and how she was making dramatic changes in her personal life. He noticed that she was living without stress, drama, or breakdowns. Each time he had the opportunity to be around her he would ask questions. Louis listened with intention and decided to take her advice, to stop procrastinating and give him self the gift of education. The education she was talking about was not just another business class on structures, system or techniques; it was an introduction to the world of transformation. Transforming how Louis looked at himself, others, and the world around him was not going to be an easy task. He was excited, however, to develop himself as a person. He knew he had to learn how to manage his excuses, disappointments and regrets in life. Louis also knew he had the support of his friend to become the leader he wanted to be. He knew he could remove the blocks that were in his way to self-satisfaction. During the Bravehearts Leadership Training, Louis became aware of all the negative stories he had about himself and others, and realized how much time and energy he was wasting on what didn’t matter. Louis realized that he was the creator of a lot of crap. “I’m the genesis of all my conversations. Good day, bad day - it is my choice, I can do most anything”, says Louis. Since Louis has completed the Bravehearts Leadership Training, he can honestly say, “I am more driven in life. I have a vision for my life and I look at it daily to remind myself who I am, and that nothing is perfect, yet nothing is wrong, it is exactly right.” Louis has taken the training he provides to others to a whole new level. He is not only able to improve their technical skills, but trains and develops others to bring more value to each and every service they do. He inspires them to do what makes a difference for themselves too. If you pay attention to what is around you, notice those that inspire you, and act on what they are doing, you too can become someone people look to as an inspiration. Louis says, “Life is about living your dream and not letting anyone or anything stop you, and remembering to pay attention and ask others for support.” Louis just recently applied to move to the next level as a Master Educator with L’Oreal. |
