Melaini Peet, Everyday Hero

This month it is my pleasure to introduce Melaini Peet. She is not only the Branch Manager for one of the Union Bank locations in Encinitas, CA, but she is also a single mom, a volunteer for multiple organizations, and a friend to all.

This selection to have Melaini as this month’s Everyday Hero was an easy choice as we have seen her make some big shifts in her life over the past year. Two words seemed to sum up Melaini’s life before starting coaching and that was ‘total chaos’. She felt that she had a lot of turmoil and drama. She was going through the motions and not dealing with the situations that needed to be dealt with.

When starting the coaching program last year Melaini got to uncover that she is lazy and undisciplined. As you can imagine, this wasn’t good news for her but she also noticed that she was doing a lot of things to be ‘busy’ to avoid dealing with the situations that she needed to be dealing with. She saw that she really had no routine in her life and would just say ‘YES’ to anything that came along.

As she continued her coaching and participation in the Bravehearts Leadership program she is now stronger than she ever thought she was before. She is more capable of doing anything that she puts her mind to. One of the biggest breakthroughs for Melaini was that she really got to see that fear was only a circumstance or a road block. It was stopping her from being herself and living her life.

She is now more open to communication and getting things resolved. She has become a powerful woman and not so significant about things. She is having more fun and is more lighthearted than she has been in a long time! Melaini said that her life has less drama in it now. There is more positive energy and conversations and she actually sees the light at the end of the tunnel and is sharing that with others.

Melaini has put different practices in place to keep her on track to achieving all of her goals. She is doing action plans on a daily basis at her branch, creating how her day will go first thing in the morning before she gets out of bed and creating a budget that she can start to live by.

There have been many accomplishments that she has made personally especially starting to put herself and her health first! Professionally she achieved the Vice President status at the bank earlier this year which was a goal that she has had on her list. For her future Melaini sees her branch being rated as the best branch in Encinitas, riding her motorcycle more and traveling more.
