Communication without Defending!

My experience with Primeco coaching helped me to grow a lot. A few major things that I have accomplished is buying a house at the age of 20, developing closer relationships with my parents and family, and learning different, more constructive ways of communicating.

If I hadn’t taken on the coaching I would be a completely different person today. When I signed up I didn’t really know what to expect. I committed to it and just threw myself into it full on. Suzanne Tipton Offner was my coach throughout the Mentorship program. She helped me learn to organize and budget, and to set goals and stick to them no matter what. I learned that if I set goals and make a plan to reach them it wasn’t as big a task as it can look.

I learned to not blame them for everything and to take on that it was me that needed to change also. I also learned to listen and not judge them and make them wrong all the time. I learned to stop in an argument and take control of the situation and realize what I needed to apologize for and be straight with what the real issue was, instead of going round and round in circles not getting anywhere and pointing fingers at the other person.

Another one of my goals was to have more effective communication skills. Suzanne helped me to see the importance of taking a step back and to think about what I really wanted or needed to say before the conversation. This way you can get your point across without putting someone down or making them feel small or wrong. In my experience, it lets the person you are talking with not feel attacked and then they don’t put up a shield and you can achieve a lot more, because they will feel more comfortable and will open up to you as well.
